Is it the norm. for wedding togs to use reflectors at weddings?

I recently done a wedding & think that a reflector would have helped, or should I being using fill flash more?

Any help/pointers gratefully accepted.

Regards Spence

Depends on the situation, but yes I will use one if required.

Reflectors are the best and great if you have an understanding assistant. However most people settle for fill flash.

Why don't you have both! a California sunbounce and arm with a flash attached...lol

The last wedding I shot I had an Australian friend over as second shooter. Because there were two of us we used a reflector a lot, and a video light inside. Definately showed in the shots, so much better. Problem is having a second to hold the kit.

Yep, reflector before flash every time and I'd rather use a video light before flash too :)

One of the reasons that I still second at weddings and my friends also second for me.

Having someone who will look after the kit, knows how to use a reflector and will scout the locations with you and generally watch your back is invaluable :)

Knowing how to use a reflector is important though. It seems like a very simple thing just to bounce light around but it has to be coming from the right direction and the most common mistake I see is height. Get the thing as high as you can, the sun does not come from waist height! (unless you are using it low down to bounce light up it should go as high as you can)

I would have loved to have just used a reflector, but wasn't sure on holding it as I was on my own.

Thanks for the info. BouncyMelons,
I think I'll have to invest in a decent set of reflectors.

Thank you everyone for you advice.
