I have been asked by a friend to photograph a window display in his wifes charity shop window,it has to be done after work so about 6.00 pm ish,so not the best of light, how would you go about this.

Not getting your own reflection in the window for instance

What lens, i have D5100 with
18-105 kit lens
50mm 1.8
55-300
Also what sort of settings?

Many thanks

Andy

Ideally you need a tilt/shift lens and use horizontal shift.
However they are expensive even to hire ,a CPL filter might help or can you shoot at an angle so you are not in the reflection?

As above,

Plenty of light in the shop to illuminate what you want to capture, possibly a blackout disk to prevent any severe lights beside you / behind etc. Just have a play with the kit, you may find your nifty will be good at a slight distance for pulling in the light. You could also mess with doing a slight long exposure once dark so the street appears to be lit but there's still enough light from in the shop to pull through etc :)
