A quick note to tell you all about my very positive purchase from Redsnapper through this site...

From recommendation I have just bought a tripod, monopod and car window mount from Redsnapper. buying it through here I got a discount for being a TP member and I ordered them on Tuesday night and they arrived on Thursday morning!

As I was on a budget these items prove to be very good value for money whilst maintaining the good quality.

Thanks to Redsnapper!

There are loads of people on here that would agree with you. I have bought two tripods and both are superb and great value for money
Thumbs up from me too!

My Tripod & head arrived yesterday so out to play with it this after. Very imprssed so far with the quality and service.
Thanks Red Snapper

I'll balance it up.

After reading all the positive reviews I did not have a particularly pleasant experience. Whilst I am extremely happy with my tripod and ballhead the length of item it took to come was unacceptable (11 days) and 'customer service' refused to refund the delivery charge (£8 or so which was excessive I thought anyway). Communication stopped until prompted again with follow up emails and the conclusion being no refund and a host of standard emails sent to me declaring how valued I was as a customer.

I am happy with the product but not the service, therefore my purchases in the future will be elsewhere. They lost out on a monopod sale from myself because of this.

Just my 2 cents. :)

What Tripod did you buy? What other tripod did you consider? Why did you buy this one?

I'm just intrested as I will be looking for my 1st tripod soon and have no I dear were to start

I bought one and it broke, contacted customer services who were very helpful, returned it and quickly received a replacement, which broke.

New one arrived quickly and works fine.

Guess I was unlucky.

Wish I'd bought a ball-head though.

Cheers.

I had a bargain tripod from Amazon, which was sturdy but massive and quite heavy so I didn't take it anywhere.

Got a Redsnapper now, much more compact, quite light and great quality for the price. So I'm happy with them too!

Hi Chris, I will try and answer this as best as I can but please keep in mind that I am no expert and reasonably new to this game....

I bought the RS283 tripod,

Prior to this I had been using a 'cheap' tripod which although very light and compact it wasn't very stable. I have been doing mainly bird photography and was finding that when using this cheap tripod I was still getting quite a lot of camera shake if not using a shutter release etc. When shooting birds I have found that as they are often a moving target you want to move the camera and shoot which with this cheap tripod caused me all sorts of problems. Also if any weight was put on the tripod it caused the legs to bend slightly which then made it difficult to fold away. Currently I probably use my tripod a little too robustly!...The quality of the RS283 is vastly superior than anything else in it's price range in my opinion and if I get a bit too 'keen' when following that next bird shot I'm confident that this tripod will give a good solid base and compensate for my heavy handedness!...

Not the best review written about tripods I know but an honest reflection of problems I experienced and the 'ham fisted' way I use one!!..

At £69 for the tripod and a head I don't think that there is much to match it from the research I did. I also bought it from recommendation of someone else and have to say that I am not disappointed at this stage.

There is a review of the Redsnapper in the review section :-

Was your delay during the bad weather? I had xmas cards sent from Newcastle to Durham take >3 weeks.

Not trying to defend RedSnapper as I don't know what cust' serv's is like thus far

Thanks for the reply,

It was Joe I was dealing with through email, not through here. It was also over the Christmas period but it was after the back log was cleared and I had revived several other deliveries via other couriers all next day (Citylink, HDL and FedEx - even Royal Mail got there service together). It was actually admitted in email that their usual courier failed to pick up when arranged too.

Please do understand I am in noway trying to put anyone off the company as I am very pleased with my tripod, I am just disappointed in the service. I do appear to be an exception to the otherwise glowing reviews which surprises me even more that nothing was done to waive the shipping costs.

Regardless, you will not be disappointed with the tripod, its a good choice.

Fair enough mate.

The tripod is a cut above the rubbish I have bought to-date.

I broke one of the legs on my tripod recently, but Joe was able to send me the replacement parts quickly for a very reasonable price - much much better than buying a new triopd

thanks higgy50 for the info.

Whats the deal with the ball head  Most people seam too prefer them why? what's the benfit? I guess its easier to get in the postion you want quicker

It looks like a nice tripod for the money.
