After the Aberdeen meet on Wed I was awakened on the need for a good tripod:eek:.

I have sen the thread on the classifieds for the Redsnapper brand and to be honest they look good. But What do I know?

Any comments? I have around £150ish to spend on tripod and head.

ive a red snapper, boght after recomendations here, very sturdy, and a nice carry bag to boot, i got the 3 way pan head, but after using i wish id gone for the ball head, for between 75 - 100 very good quality, manfrotto do a nice 1, that goes up and over that ive put on my xmas list for doing macro work from above

Andy, same predicament. Post abz TP meet i realised that my tripod is not just poor, but its embarrasing! i searched for red snapper and this is the first post that came up!

Anyways, have you found something suitable?

Al

got my redsnapper 283 & rhs-12 ballhead a couple of months ago - it's amazing what a decent tripod is like compared to my old one.

Very stable, excellent quality (only thing missing from ballhead is a spiritlevel) can't fault either items, and a pretty good price too - well worth it :)

HI Andy,

I have the redsnapper with the ball head too, think its the 283 tripod, very sturdy and great build quality, its not the lightest of tripods, but probably the same as many others unless you go for a carbon fibre one..

I use mine all the time and never had a problem with it.

If we have another Aberdeen meet before you buy one, you are more than welcome to have a shot.

P.s. Joe @ Redsnapper is a great guy and if you have any questions about the different versions im sure he will be more than happy to help.... (he Joe do i get a freebie? :p)

Chris,

Another thumbs up from me for Redsnapper. I've got the basic legs and they come with so many accessories. Low level central column, retractable spike on the feet and a quality carry bag. I paired the legs with a Manfrotto 486 head and have been as happy as a pig in the brown stuff.

No experience with redsnapper but £150 should get you a manfrotto 190 with head, I use one and I think its an awesome tripod

Very much appreciate the feedback Guy's. I have indeed decided to go for the 283 & rhs-12 head.

Will give Joe a call Monday am.

I recently compared my 283 with my sisters Manfrotto. Have to say that the 283 looks like it will be more stable.
I'd go with the cheaper RS, then wait until you have the dosh for a a Gitzo.

defo redsnapper all the way, carnt beat it for the money, big thumbs up to joe:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

Redsnapper 283C and RS-12 ball head. Absolutely fantastic kit for the bucks! I also went for the monopod and use the ball head on both. You'll get 10% discount off for being a forum member. Can't argue with that!

Delivery is next day too

looking at one of these for urbexing when I have some spare cash
