Redsnapper mini studio kit

I've been toying with the idea for a while of doing some indoor photography and I've noticed that Redsnapper do a mini studio kit for £29.99.
The kit includes a softbox, 2 x 50W lights and a tripod.
I'm not fussed about the tripod, I'm sure mine is more adjustable but for the price, this seems to good to be true.
I'm not knocking Redsnapper, I've dealt with Joe before and the tripod I owned was very good value for money.

I'm just wondering if anyone has bought this kit and what your views are on it.

take away the tripod, & what you're left with is a bit of blue/grey material & two 50w lamps. Looks like a great set, but you could make your own for much cheaper

Do you have a link for lamps cheaper? - they are what I would most be interested in

If its the same one I bought its not very good imo plus mine looked like it had already been used as one of the sides the stiching had come undone and both of the lamps were wrapped differently.

Never done anything about it because I bought it months ago and only used it for the first time this week.

I was looking at this and various eBay ones that look exactly the same a few months back and came to the conclusion its a bit of a waste of money, the lights apparently are not too good and you can only leave them on minutes at a time else they get a bit melty.

I am now planning on getting something like this..

and then using lamps for now until I find something with a bit more lastability.

The light box on eBay is exactly the same as mine. Purchased mine in dec 10 and it works really well. Very pleased with it.

which is available for £40. Needs a new tube as one broke and has some signs of use but still works fine.
