Hi,

I noticed somebody is linking or posting my stuff on there, no permissions asked, no attribution, nothing, just a large size link.

What would be your view - invoice reddit.com or just take it with a grain of salt as a reality of internet?

Thanks.

Go on reddit, say you took it, enjoy the publicity. Reddit is more of site where you share cool things with other people (great community there btw), so I'm sure they'll appreciate who took it. In fact, if you look at the reddits on the main page you can see that they take art theft quite seriously (http://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/joqnj/pretty_massive_digital_art_theft_over_at/), so I'm sure they linked your images in a 'hey, this is pretty cool check it out' way rather than a 'check out these images I took' way.

reddit's copyright proceedure if that helps:

Reddit is a social bookmarking/sharing site so i cant see why it woudl be a bad thing someone sharing your link? Thats a good thing.

Thanks; email sent.

Giving no attribution is not a good way forward and hopefully they will take it more seriously.

If you have emailed SB&G, I have a feeling you may get a response similar to the one the Cleveland Browns gave.

reddit is a social networking site, where users post links to things.

Most images posted to reddit are hosted on www.imgur.com, which is a free image host, and their t+cs will also be that the photo was the responsibility of the uploader. Imgur T&Cs here: http://imgur.com/tos contact them with proof of copyright if you want to ban the user too, though in all honesty the ban probably won't mean much. Reddit does nothing but link to the hosted image.

Sending an invoice to reddit will be an utter waste of time....

What I WOULD however do is make an account and in the thread that the poster posted your picture, call them out on it - the reddit community is pretty well self-moderating and the poster will get grief over it :) And they all tend to take copyright from individual photographers/artists seriously, even if torrenting and music piracy is the done thing...

And then stick about, it's a great time waster community :)
