Just wondered if any of you good folk out there are signed up with Redbubble. If so have you had any success in selling things

On the flip side has anyone ordered anything from them and if so what was to quality of the products like.

Thanks

Nick

Yes, if you search for Red Bubble on the forum there have been a few recent threads.

I sold my first piece this morning so had a bit of an ego boost. It was just a greeting card and earns me the grand total of 39p but it's given me a push to get the camera back out and upload some more work. I can't actually get my 39p yet though as it's a minimum of $20 for withdrawing funds from RB.

Well done - it is a start and you have got to start somewhere

I signed up at the weekend and don't expect to make a fortune but it would keep the OH happy if I managed to sell something and be a good bargaining tool for the 300 f4 lens I want

i sold a few t shirts on there they pay out monthly now via paypal i just got this months £11.86 yesterday which was nice.
Have to upload some more stuff as it turns out to be quite a reliable company

Red Bubble sets the price for you and then you select a mark up which will be yours if the item sells. For example a small canvas is £30, a 20% mark up on that is £6.00 so you would make £6.00 and Red Bubble would make a profit on the £30.

Most people seem to stick to the default of 20% but i've seen some with huge markups although the work does reflect the higher price.

I wonder if my 39p will come through paypal :)

T-Shirt so seem to be the most common items to sell. I've seen a few I like but i've got a long body so i'm not sure if the female ones would fit me. I might bite the bullet and put my 39p towards a T-Shirt.

Been on there a while and not sold a single thing (which to be fair isn't a huge surprise) I'm not one to go joining loads of groups so haven't really had much exposure.

Thanks for the comments folks. Glad to see that some of you have had sucsess.

I have banked on the fact that it is free to sign up to and any sales will be a bonus and add to the 300 f4 fund

MAy well look into somehting like shutterstock as well though.

I'm guilty of the huge markups, but it's not from a sales perspective as I don't expect to sell anything on there. I upload to redbubble primarily because I like the interface and find it a nice way to display images, but if something is going to sell then I don't fancy earning £6 from a £30 sale and not being able to withdraw it. I figure there are too many people with images better than my own on there to think I will sell anything yet.

Or you end up like me with 39p sitting with RB and not being able to withdraw :bonk:

I agree with the interface etc, it's a fab site although you still need places like TP for proper critique and learning. I find everyone is so gushy and complimenting all the time. Apart from when some psycho woman decided to tell my she felt sorry for my sphynx cat being bald, i'm not sure what that had to do with my image.
