Hi All

I'm looking for a little help in locating red telphone boxes for a specific project. I live just outside bolton and i'm looking for a box / boxes say within 10 or 15 miles, in a relatively dark and quiet location, as i need it for a specific lighting shot using sparklers.
I know of only one near me, but its smack bang under a street lamp, next to traffic lights as a junction.

Can anyone in the northwest help? I have tried googling red telehone box locations, but no joy.

Wife has been to Botany Bay today, she said there is one there outside.

Hope your after a smashed one if you intend find it in Bolton!
 
i said near bolton, not in bolton lol!! Yeagh thanks for that, i pass bottany bay every day so i'll take a peek tomorrow! I really appreciate it. That should be good to as hopefully after closing time it'll be empty!
 
If your north of bolton, Preston isn't too far. I know there are some there. On Market street according to this link :)
 
You could ask BT's PR department.

Downham still has red telephone boxes. Little village near Clitheroe.
 
I'm sure there is still plenty in Cheshire

Now you mention it, i know exactly where they are near the market as i used to live in preston whilst at uni, and work in preston now...might give them a go
 
Thanks for that. Yes i have seen that you can buy replica ones, but i dont think it'd be very practicle for the one shot i need haha.
I had a ride around locally last night and found a couple, but they are in the most inopportune locations!!
 
I know there is one in Catharine Street near Canning Street, Liverpool as seen in this BBC video clip. There is one inside the Anglican Cathedral before the entrance to the Tower Tours (so not sure if sparklers allowed?) and then there is one in Chester, Bridge Street and White Friars under a tree - check them out on Google Street View... apart from the one inside the cathedral!
 
There's one near the car park at Crowden, on the A628 Woodhead Rd over the Pennines, maybe 20 miles or so from Bolton. I don't think it's in use and there are no windows in it. Very quiet out-of-the-way spot though!
 
grade 2 listed....and sparklers...hmmm may get me the wrong kind of attention lol.

Brooksy, i have driven down to and around bottany bays car park, and can't see a a box anywhere.

Sounds like an opportunity for someone to track them down and put a KML file together.

It's a Google Earth dataset, e.g. The Defence of Britain dataset. Very useful for collecting and sharing geographical locations and details. I've had a quick look and I don't see one for red telephone boxes.. but I'm sure there's a group of phonespotters already collecting locations..
