For a few weeks now I have been a bit concerned about the squirrels. They have gone missing from gardens round about & I did not think I had many visiting the hide.
Things got so bad last week that when I carried 65kilos of food up to the hide I did wonder if they would be around to eat it.
Just got back from a quick 45 mins there. One very well fed Red burying nuts & another smaller one chasing him through the trees
Dunno what has been going on but it looks like they are back.
I still think the large timber thinning operation this summer has had something to do with it. Not so many young about either this year. Possibly trees with dreys were felled, though I have found no evidence of that in my wanderings.
Just seems strange that over the past few weeks there has been a noticeable absence of them all around. People have been saying to me that they have not been seeing them around either.
