I love Lightroom2, truly awesome program, I love the speedy workflow, superb. I love it more than cheap red wine from Tesco and that’s a lot. I just cant seem to get the same colour as I can from my old friend cs3. There’s always to much red of a cast in every photo. I do high key portraits with a D3 in RAW, Blond hair always became slightly ginger, the skin tones slightly to pink, even when I pull back my contrast, sat and hue. When I load the raw into cs3 its fine! What am I doing wrong, my white balance is fine, is true skin tones to much to ask for?
Do my studio strobes bring out the gingerness in innocent blonds? God help us all!!!!!

I don't know whether you'll have success where the D3 is concerned but I find that with my Canon raw files there can be a ignificant difference in colour rendering depending upon which camera profile I use in the calibration tab. It might be worth exploring the profiles.

CS3 won't be reading the camera " Picture Styles" where Lightroom probably is.

Try selecting a neutral picture style in the camera and see if that gives a different feel your your images.

Lightroom does not read picture styles. The only "raw" related settings that Lightroom picks up are the HTP flag and (poorly) the white balance setting. Every other setting - picture style, sharpening, contrast, lens peripheral illimunation correction, noise reduction and so on is completely ignored by Lightroom, at least as far as Canon raw files is concerned. e.g. if I shoot with Monochrome picture style, DPP presents me with a Mono image, while Lightroom presents me with the full colour version.

As for what happens with Nikon files, I imagine it is the same - camera settings will probably almost all be ignored.

Yes your right but I wonder if a Picture Style has been set in the profiles option. This may be why the 2 look different. Also LR will use the "Adobe Default" profile, which may give a different look to the CS3 and LR image.

Tragic, have a look in the develop module, under Camera Calibration, and Profiles ( it's right at the top of the box), and see if what is selected. You could try simply selecting different ones to see the effect, to see if you can match CS3
