Red meat is bad for you again! ( SuperBug)

I wonder if Pigeon is safer to eat, it is a red meat. Never tried Pigeon, probably too scrawny to bother with :)
A couple of plump breasts per serving.
Fercrissakes don't eat the ferals though, just the wood pigeons.

But it seems pork is a really bad idea if you're worried about antibiotics.
And if you believe the stories about air pollution so is breathing :D

There are antibiotics in the air?
I meant just all the airborne crap that's out there.
However I was was curious enough to have a quick google, it would seem so but localised to the area's of animal facilities that "dose"

It is not as simple. Antibiotics make all bacteria in contact with treated animal more resistant in the long term. The bacteria then spread. Naturally, the exposure to humans can take more routes than just eating rare meat. Human to human transmission is one of the most obvious ways. So not eating rare meat doesn't change anything.

At this point we should be discussing and FIGHTING against the use of antibiotics in animals for any other reason apart from treatment of disease.

I have long suspected wild fish and goat, possibly lamb may be the healthiest choice, whilst processed foods are the worst.

I think there are 2 separate points that a lot of people and "news" sources are mixing up.

1. Massive use of antibiotics in any animals is a really bad idea. Including humans. That's how you breed antibiotic resistant bugs by killing all the ones you can with antibiotics.

2. Eating undercooked meat containing antibiotic resistant bugs is a really really bad idea. Because if they were to infect you (and the science doesn't seem terribly clear how likely this is) then you are basically dead. Antibiotics won't help you since the bugs are immune and we don't really have much else other than IV fluids and hope.

So (1) overusing antibiotics is bad for people in general (2) eating meat is bad for the people who do it.

Ironically the antibiotic use for treatment of humans has been is steady decline since we realised the problem and as mandated by the governments, while farm general use is still on the rise. Madness! ... and lobbying by farmers as it means less livestock loss, larger animals and bigger profit.

Glad I dont have to worry about stuff like this, not eating meat!

I have to breath in diesel fumes all day just walking round the town. Not arsed about this one little bit.

I eat meat, and still don't worry about it.
If I had listened to all the so called advice over the years about what is bad for you, (well one month anyway),
I'd have starved long ago.

How many should I expect to find in a 16 piece variety bucket?
None, you don't think that's real chicken in there do you? :D

I like a nice stuffed and roast pigeon. Best I had was in the eighties in Prague. Yum yum.

Since we are being protected against a wide variety of nasty things these days we should be fairly clean so perhaps cannibalism could be a good idea?

Any suggestions as to the best cut or perhaps which celeb would you personally like to eat? :D

Hunt them fresh out of the jungle,

Hmm I think I could think of a few :)

Hold on... Can we go back to the worms for a moment?? How many should I expect to find in a 16 piece variety bucket?
... umm.. try Googling this, but not whilst you're eating...

I'd be amazed if that was true more than half-a-dozen countries worldwide.

Actually, I'd amazed if it applied anywhere in the world.

Oh I don't know about that. AIDS, steroids, other drugs, high alcohol consumption. Obesity. Nah I've not seen a human being id like to eat in ages.

Well, only parts... :P

I was about to clarify, but I think we've had enough innuendo on here this week and it's only Tuesday :)

You can never have too much innuendo! :D

Got two of these joints as they were on offer, so the medical experts say I have to cook these joints well done. It should not be eaten pink in the middle :wideyed:

Got one myself as well today :)

We're doomed.
Well you are anyway, pheasant season doesn't end for a couple of months yet, shouldn't you be keeping your head down? :D

Pheasants and cobras could form a reasonable emergency diet :p
Cat apparently tastes like rabbit, a few spices and we have the makings of a curry :p
However I prefer my meals still breathing :D

Oi!
I haven't got AIDS  :$

NICE (UK) guidelines for antibiotic prescriptions https://www.nice.org.uk/advice/ktt9...ally-broad-spectrum-antibiotics-1632178559941

A while ago antibiotics used to be staple treatment of even a common cold.
Which is totally bizarre, as the cold is a virus, and obviously antibiotics don't touch virus'

Oddly on this morning's news; doctors who prescribe more antibiotics get better patient satisfaction scores, and those scores make a difference to their pay. So overprescribing antibiotics improves their salaries
