Has anyone been to photo the Red Kites at Fineshade Woods near Corby? If so whereabouts are the best spots for shooting them? There are supposed to be 200 up there but I have no idea where the best spots are around the site.

Thanks in advance.

I drive past here regularly, last time i tried to photograph the kites was a couple of years ago.

200 seems to be quite a high number, there are certainly not as many as at places like Watlington etc.

During nesting season they often shut part of the woods off to protect the birds. I,ve found it best to keep to the roads or fields around the woods.

Try the road from Blatherwyke to Kings Cliffe especially near the lake

Also the road up to the visitor centre can offer good views. I would get an OS map ( or print streetmap) to find out the local footpaths around the area.

Good idea Blacklab, I do know that road and there are a few places to pull in so I'll go and have a good nosey round. Thanks.

Worth cheking out the local tip too ;)

Thanks all. I shall get the mighty Scirocco out and have a cruise around.

Fantastic suggestions folks! I did the loop Bulwick-Southwick-Kings Cliffe-Blatherwycke-Bulwick and had a few opportunities (most wasted lol), this is one of the better ones but not yet good enough for the critique forum. Cheers for the help and this will keep me occupied for a bit now :)
