Red Bull Stratos

Yep, i'll be watching this (in between doing some proper work :D )

Arrrgh the live feed doesnt work here. Only got the countdown...will have to watch it later. :(

Earliest launch time now 17:30 GMT.

I guess they can't take any risks in terms of the weather. I'd rather wait a bit longer and see a successful jump.

This should be good though, especially if they have some good feeds attached to the suit.

countdown clock has stopped again.. but it looks like they're ready to go as planned. i can see this being a late night for me if there's any more delays.

i've not read too much about this - how long does it take to freefall?

Someone told me 6 minutes freefall and then 10 minutes on the 'chute. Off to check if that's correct now!

Good luck to him and hope he makes the sound barrier safely

Abort again

Thursday is the next estimated try, good weather forecast.

What I don't get is when he finally enters the earths atmosphere doing 700mph +, surely he will have to slow down to terminal velocity because of the density of the air lower down? Won't that cause EXTREME heat?

Yes, that's where the suit comes into play. If the suit fails... His skin boils... Was what one of the RB team said

I sat checking this all day yesterday at work. I'll be doing the same on re-launch. So interesting!

very brave man......or completly stupid,...either way i will be watching the highest 'base' jump ever

out of interest does anyone know what is the highest altitude anyone can jump without the protection of 'capsule'

Looks like it could be a go this time.

The've just broadcast from "Mission Control", they're waiting for some wind to die down at around 700ft. Launch is anticipated within the hour.

Balloon now being inflated ready for launch

20 thousand feet in 15mins, impressive :)

What an amazing thing to attempt, no matter how mental this is to do!!!!

I'd happily do something like this. Obviously have my camera with me though.:bonk:

Be easy to use, untill you hit the thicker atmosphere and feel the buffering against the air.

GO on Bumgardener, you can do this
