Prior to me cloning the hard drive in my laptop to the SSD drive i was going to make a set of recovery discs using the HP software.

When i go into the software though i get a message saying "recovery partition has been removed"
Now when i go into disk management it shows me a hidden partition called recovery which is 20 or so gb in size.

Is there any reason to suggest it has been removed or is the HP software getting confused somehow?

It showed in "my computer" as a seperate partition and im sure it had its own letter (F: )
Will confirm in the morning

Ok i popped the old srive back in and it shows the recovery partition as being D:
There also seems to be three other components which contain recovery info but have no drive assigned to them.
Anyone got any ideas?

Eurgh what a mess.

Windows creates its own small partition for a few system files which is probably the smallest one.

What the other two are I am unsure.

Do you need the recovery partition? Do you have access to windows media?

Dont really need it perse but as i bought the laptop 2nd hand and it came with no media i thought it would be prudent to make some recovery disks to cater for any future issues that may arise

Sounds like you planned to make them before cloning but didn't do it?
If so cloning can mess with partitions so why not make them with old drive that it appears you put back in to test drive letters?
Unless I am misreading....
