Looking to get some picture printed, some 4x6, some 6x9 etc. Anywhere between 10-60 in total, any recommendations in the Manchester area as I've not really done printing before?

Manchester colour lab

Thanks for the suggestions; I do have a question though!

Manchester Colour Labs, 10"x8" print = £3.98

DS Colour Labs, 10"x8" print = £0.45

Obviously the difference in price must reflect the quality of the paper/printing? Or am I missing something?

Thanks

I dont think there is any noticable difference in price. To be honest I almost always use DS Colour Labs because of the price. The quality is superb as, obviously, is the price.

I do find a lot of places charge excessive amounts once you get to 10x8. I got some 9x6's done in ASDA the other day - 30p each and done in an hour. Not bad I thought. The 10x8's are £1.20 !!!! Compared to DSC Labs ... seems very expensive !!

DSCL use Fuji crystal archive paper and are top quality prints and very fast turn round. They are a bit pricey on the P+P but the price of prints more than makes up for that providing you get enough done.

Try the above in Warrington, not cheap but dam good, offer a good range of services .Try the matalic

Depends on how North you want to go...!

It could be the type of printer they're using.

DSCL use Fuji Frontiers, I don't know what Manchester use, but it could be that they're using wide format, which means more expensive smaller prints (at a guess)

Manchester isn't 'up north' - it's way down south!

How about Loxley in Glasgow?

I now use Sams Photo Lab for all my prints. Very impressed with the quality and the personal service on the telephone! An order should be arriving tomorrow.

Thanks for all the suggestions again!

Where is Sam's Photo Lab based?

Scotchland. I am in Wigan so not far from you I guess. I like the service you get on the phone and the fact that they do A4 prints for my folder.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but on MLC site for digital images what does the size 1-3 4-20 etc refer too?

Mark.

Not a stupid question Mark, the pricing table isn't very clear but the 1-3 and 4-20 are the quantities. Where it says 'size', you look underneath to find which size you want, then go horizontally to see how much it costs.

Well I've had 8 prints done at sizes from 6x2 to 15x10 and must say I'm WELL impressed!

I went for the Lustre finish which looks stunning. Thanks for the recommendation :thummbs:

And where did you get them from? I have just had more come back from Sams and, as usual, cannot fault anything.

Varneys in Lancaster, or Norwyn Photographic in Preston are both very good

I had them done at DSCL. Ordered them at about 2am and received immediate automated reply. Then followed be an email first thing next morning saying someone had taken responsibility for printing/dispatching, finally an email at around 1pm saying they were in the post.

Arrived the next day in very tough packaging looking just as I'd hoped. I hadn't calibrated my monitor so wasn't sure if they would turn out, but they had deep blacks, stunning highlights and the colour tones were spot on :)

Pro-Am in Bradford is also worth trying (especially if you want to compare prints to who you went with now).

Quality prints 18" x 12" for £1.25

Another recommendation for DSCL here, I also use Loxley, haven't had any issues with either, DSCL are a fair bit cheaper than Loxley though!
