Edit My Images
Yes
and editing.Picasa?Fatstone?others?must be free.
Thanks.Just got a new laptop with Windows Home on it and just wanted some suggestions.

Also try Photoscape - really simple to use, or GIMP - more complicated but can do more.

My vote for FastStone, I keep finding new things it will do.

FastStone.. used for home use and I use it profesionally.. great bit of software.

I downloaded FastStone.Thanks for the recommendations :)

Quick one...is it possible to upload from Faststone? Can't see how?If not, how do I tramsfer photos tp Photobucket or elsewhere?

Well, it could be possible to use an external program (say ftp) and use that, but why bother ? Just go to Photobucket and upload.

Update - edit ......

I've just checked and Flikr has a desktop uploader, if you install this and add to the external programs in FastStone, you can then right click on an image and use the Flikr uploader to load into Flikr. Don't know if Photobucket has anything similar.

Thanks.I've got Photobucket and used to use Flickr but don't want too many systems.
Am I right in thinking one has to transfer images from Fatstone to Photobucket?

You don't have to do anything .

FastStone will view images on your PC - or attached storage- (local files).
Photobucket stores your images 'in the cloud' (on the internet)

You will not be able to view your Photobucket images with FastStone - you will need to log in to Photobucket to view them.

You won't be able to view your local files with Photobucket (except to select for upload).

Have I misunderstood the question ?

Sorry, I;m a bit slow with this :)
So if I log in to Photobucket, I will be able to view my images which download in Fatstone?
Just tried to log set up PB account and will have to set up a new email, as it keeps telling me to register with another email .It's 6 months since I was on it and can't remember my log in details. But I would have only used one email to set up my account 6 months back and I've tried 2 just now.)
Hope all that makes sense! :)
Cofused.

I store my photos in a folder specifically for flickr, log into flickr and use their upload option, not sure about photobucket but assume you would have the same type of option

Thanks...I may be some time sorting this out :)

You will not Faststone open when viewing them on Flickr or Photobucket, they are hosted on those sites

For example if you follow the link to my flickr in my sig you do not need Faststone to view them

You need fastone open when you want to edit pictures which are stored on your computer  then when complete upload to Flickr or Photobucket

Hope that helps if I am understanding your question

Great help, John and Bob.I will report back on how I get on. but as I said, it may take a while.:)

Managed to log into Photobucket, and the images from 6 months ago are therem but (and I HAVE read your helpful posts) how do I view the photos I took recently( which are in Faststone ) on Phorobucket?
Phew.Thanks for your patience.

The thing to remember is that your recently taken photos are not 'in' FastStone, they are loaded on your local hard disc and you are just using FastStone to view them.

You need to identify where they are on your computer - the folder should be above your Thumbnails in FastStone.

Then login to Photobucket and click the big green upload button at the top of the screen, then navigate (in Photobucket) to the folder on your hard disc identified above, select the files you want to upload and away you go.

Note : The images will now exist in two places - your hard disk and in Photobucket.

Thanks John. You've enlightened me on this...seriously.
