Recommendations for Acrylic Panel

Hi all,

I'm thinking of getting one of the following images done as an acrylic panel, I've never printed any of my images large, nevermind on an Acrylic, so I'm looking for advice!

Firstly which of the following do you think would work best on an acrylic panel:

Secondly who would you recommend to use for the actual printing? I've previously used DSCL and found them great for 10x8 sized prints - but does anyone know what they're like for acrylic panels?

You dont actually print the image onto the acrylic, you print onto paper as normal, then either sandwich the print between 2 pieces of acrylic or bond the print to the back of the acrylic using optically clear film.

I cannot recommend a place for you as i do my own, there will be loads of places able to do what your looking for.
 
we recently used DSCL for a customers order, while the first attempt turned up scratched (looks like while packing someone used it as a cutting board) and with fragments of cut paper between the panels.. the second attempt was spot on (albeit im still owed £9 for the return of the first). personally i dont think id use frames any more, they really do look amazing on the wall.
 
Can't comment on their Acrylic, however I've just had an aluminium backed print done by whitewall. Fast turnaround considering the Bank Holidays (& them being in Germany) and quality is spot on.

I was initially looking at an Acrylic print - their website suggested the aluminium backing was better for seascapes.
 
I have had acrylics made up now from 3 different companies. Two of them used the bonded/stick an image to the acrylic method. Both of these were either scratched or had bubbles in the media.

The one company which I used which printed direct to the acrylic, the image itself was perfect. However the front face (i.e. the acrylic) was mildly scratched.

The two companies which had bubbles did either refund or rectify the problem (with a replacement) immediately upon me opening a complaint with a photograph of the problem (no quibbles). The one which refunded did so because they were going to change their method of production, and I intend on purchasing full price from them once they are fixed.

I think that the 'easiest' solution would be to get a printed direct to acrylic option, if you do not want to have to complain. However, it is possible for a bonded/paper option to be done nicely.
 
I can personally recommend Catch in colour who print onto a film that is bonded to the rear of the panel and colours are really vivid.

I also have a 40x20" panel in my living room of the family that was done made by Fabio Art, who bond a print to the rear of the panel.

Could be worth a look.

No 2 is me and the Mrs choice.
