Mrs Zendog has not been at all well for a while and worse is now getting very little sleep.

She wants to try playing (very softly) mellow music all night (Enya type) and see if it hepls.

I've got loads of MP3's and can put them on more or less any medium (memory stick, CD, SD or SD micro.

So can anyone recommend a small speaker setup that can play random tracks from one of the above for say 8 hours?
All the ones I've looked at so far have failed on either battery life or the random bit.

Thanks for any help.

Cheers Steve

Budget irrelevant, not Apple and preferably from Amazon for speed if not tax paying.

Depends on the quality of your expectations tbh.... for me, Id be looking at something like the B&W Zeppelin......

If it's low level and you're not looking for hifi quality then some of the cheap (ca. £20ish) Anker bluetooth speakers work pretty well and the battery lasts around 10 hours - I often take one travelling and am always surprised about how good they are (and I also own some reasonably serious hifi kit too).

Of course, the randomness of track selection will have to come from the music player but if that's a phone or ipod then not a problem.

If, on the other hand, you want proper stereo hifi to lose yourself in then you'll want something better but it is fine for a bit of background music.

And I have the smaller one too which is frankly amazing considering it's size.

Why not look at a mains powered speaker or clock radio that would play you're devices ?

Do you have bluetooth option available to you as lots of speakers allowing bluetooth streaming and your device could be the random player ?

Some offer battery and or mains as well...

My wife / daughter have one of these Sony speakers https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Portable-Bluetooth-Wireless-Speaker/dp/B009WNN706?th=1

Allows bluetooth connection, but also allows 3.5mm jack plug connection from an MP3 player - runs from the mains or batteries (easily 20 + hours on battery) and sounds good for the size of speaker
