Recommend me some good fiction / non fiction.......

I've just been away and read The Associate by John Grisham which was good, also Beyond Suspicion by Lynda la Plant which was excellent and I'm currently reading The First Rule by Robert Crais which my dad loved. I also like Martina Coles.

craig russel - "lennox" , and "the long glasgow kiss"

I just know the £20 voucher is going to end up with me spending £50.........

Ha ha that was me till I get the Kindle now I am reading freebies or really cheap books all the time just read the Stig Larsson Trilogy on holiday was going on a Balic cruise so thought it was appropriate I liked it so much I downloaded the other two and read all three in a week.

I like most of the authors who got a mention on here, Ian Rankin I have all his books, Peter Robinson etc etc..Have you tried Kate Atkinson? Quirky detective stories very readable. :)

Cheers guys - forgot to mention - already read all the McNab / Ryan / Deaver books.

In that vein, then how about Duncan Falconer?

The Vince Flynn books have seriously grabbed my interest, too.

If you like crime thrillers try Elmore Leonard

Oh yes... good call, an excellent crime writer.

I've just started reading a series of books by Charlie Owen, about British cops, set in the 70's. They are quite rude but nicely plotted and wickedly funny in places. Kind of like the Sweeney but with lots of swearing and the odd bit of rumpy pumpy. ( I picked them up for 20p a go in our local library sell-off section too...result!!)

+1 for David Baldacci, Hells corner is fantastic

Richard Montanari is pretty good too - crime drama stuff

"Darkly dreaming Dexter" and "Dearly devoted Dexter" by Jeff Lindsay are up there. The TV series "Dexter" was based on the first book and is brilliant

Lee Child has passed his best IMO, his newer stuff seems a bit half hearted

Non fiction wise, "Churchills wizards" by Nicholas Rankin is a good read, quite lighthearted

"The Pacific" by Hugh Ambrose is quite heavy going but it will keep you occupied for a long time, the writing is a bit confusing but well worth it

Enjoy :)
