Right ... I now have a Fujica ST705 rescued from my dad's attic. The standard lens with it is superb - 55mm f/1.8 and lovely. But I do think it's a bit close for what I want to do. Unfortunately the Vivitar 28mm I also rescued is so gummed up (none of the rings move) that I don't have an alternative wider lens.

Now obviously out there on the Bay and elsewhere there are quite a few M42 lenses going for not much so I'm fairly spoilt for choice. But in the range 28mm-35mm is there any particular make/type that stands out?

Any help/guidance will be much appreciated!

Well you can't go wrong with the M42 super tak 35mm f3.5 for very good results.

SMC Takumar 28 F3.5 - beautiful lens.

If you get SMC Takumar lenses be careful as they may not fit non Pentax cameras properly. I have a 55mm SMC Takumar with my Spotmatic F and that doesn't fit on my other M42 body (Zenit EM) due to the apperture sensing ring thing. Conversely though my KMZ Helios 44-M 58mm doesn't fit on my Spotmatic F either.
