Hello, I'm looking for a quality lightweight tripod for use with a 600mm f4 Nikon lens.

What would you recommend, my budget will be about a max of £400.

Secondhand Gitzo Series 3 Systematic, no doubt others like Feisol, Sirui and Benro are good, but can only recommend that which I have owned.

Don't forget to budget for a decent head as well, waste of money buying a good tripod if the camera/lens droops and creeps

A heavyweight lens on a lightweight tripod is not a good combination.
If weight is a major issue why buy such a heavy lens?

I'm using a Sirui ET-1204 and it's ideal for my use but the slightly heavier ET-2204 might be more suitable for you. They come with a decent ball head and case.

It's lighter than others but still up to the task I think..try 3LT tripods.mtheir after sales service is also beyond brilliant. I have Brian (which has a leg which can become a monopod) and Bob - a monopod. There is a new generation now which I think is being discounted at the moment, check their website, they are based in Bedfordshire so backing Beitish too.

Not made in the UK though, so just importers like most of the other tripod distributors.

For a lens like that you need a serious bit of kit, not all about the suggested weight it can allegedly take.

+1 for the Sirui ET-2204. Great bit of kit
