I've done a little research and added to threads, but still can't figure out what bag to buy to carry my studio lights! :bang:

I have the lencarta smartflashes (3), maybe buying another in the near future, so i need a bag which will hold 3-4 lights, all the bits and pieces in one place....If it can hold the stands too, that would be a bonus! :D

I saw on a thread on here someone recommending the following smick bag:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350364821121&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Does anyone have this one?

Or should i just go for the lencarta one:

??? :gag::thinking::bonk:

Any help would be mucho appreciated! :)

Yep. Get the lencarta bag. It's perfect for 3 heads. Mine came with my 3 head kit.

Kev.

What kit did you get kev?

I might opt for the lencarta one, but was hoping to fit more in the bag, than just the lights....

Is there any space in there once the heads are in?

I know we're all rough tough macho blokes.....but I really don't want to fit stands and lights in the same bag. I have one that takes 4 heads, 6 stands and other stuff. It's seriously heavy and unwieldy.

Stand bag over your shoulder and light bag in your hand is MUCH easier to manage.

Thanks for your input Jonathan, I'm surprised more people haven't commented so far :suspect: do everyone just carry their stuff around in boxes? :gag::thinking:

hmmm, true, maybe i should go for the lencarta one then....but then in the future, if i do go for another head, it won't fit in the bag! :(

What bag for carrying lots of light stands? Tripod bags don't seem to be able to carry more than a single tripod :( Perhaps a gym bag instead.

Not really for lightstands...

Mainly for the actual lights and also small bits and pieces, i.e. barndoors

I did initially want a bag to hold lights and stands, but as Jonatahan mentioned earlier, it all gets too heavy in one bag....so a bag for lights with a little extra room for small bits would be good.....

I'm not sure how much space the lencarta bag has in it, once the lights are in......

There's a fair bit of spare space if it has the SmartFlash heads in it, hardly any with the ElitePro heads.

Lencarta will be introducing a larger bag in April, I don't have any details yet.

The stand bag takes 3 stands comfortably, each in their own pocket.

Thanks for clearing that up Garry.... :)
I have the smartflash heads....

Now do i wait for the new bag, or buy the current one :bang::gag:

I have the stand bag, which is fine for the purpose :)

i cant view your ebay link thru work... but have you thought about an interfit bag?

Interfit bags seem a bit overpriced, I am looking for some sort of budget option for mt interfit light set and have been searching ebay but not found anything suitable yet. Any suggestions anyone

I've not bought one yet either, i just want to make the right choice and make sure i can get a decent amount of kit in one bag....

I always usually rush and make the wrong decision! :(

Could possibly consider the bags used by Archers for their kit? They need to be reasonably protective and there are many sizes and various toughness from the backpack type to the huge ones with wheels........... just a thought...... look up archery equipment if interested. 'Bow Sports' have several types

Remember and check the length very carefully if it has to take stands also - my Lencarta air cushioned stands are 105cm long, which means my 100cm lightstand bag is useless!

Now the hunt continues on whether to buy a bag which can take stands as well as lights....As mentioned above, the bag can get a little heavy with both in one bag....

I've just bought one of these which I'm very happy with...good price too.

Dave, I saw that bag on the Bay, but wasn't sure what the quality would be like.

Do you have the smartflash kit? If so, How much more stuff can be fitted in there once the lights/stands are in?

Its good quality in my opinion - for the price of course.
I have 2 x Proline flash heads, so, 2 x light stands in bottom (would fit more) but as said, I think my lighting stands are small comparted to the norm, then padded horizontal divider, 2 flash heads in top level (will fit 4 heads if necessary) but I store my odds and sods, cables, etc in where the other 2 heads would go.....the heads are also seperated by vertical dividers.
Then of course you have one big side pocket as well
Dave

Hi Vishal,

your only just over an hour from Birmingham, why not take a trip up the the NEC for the Focus on Imaging Exhibition next week, have a look at the bags on the Lencarta stand ( check that they have them on display first..... why wouldn't they? ) and then decide, you also have the opportunity of meeting with Garry and Jonathan to be dazeled by their knowledge and expertise. Also to look at the other stands and have a great day.

Malcolm, i've been thinking of going, but would be too tempted to buy a D700 if there was a good deal on one - even though i have nowhere near enough cash for one at the moment! :(

I think thats the main reason i am not going next week....

That, and I think it will be tough for me to get time off next week, and i don't fancy going on Sunday....

Just looked up light stand bags and Amazon came up with NEW Kata LS-46 46" Light Stand Bag. That's 117cm long and bigger than most. Take a look

Not sure if i made myself clear or not, but i need a bag for lights, and something that can hold stands would be a bonus...but not essential.....

Lencarta will be showing a brand new bag, stand F32

That's easy, make the Lencarta stand your first point of call and just hand your plastic to me - I'll stop you using it anywhere else:)

Edit: BTW, Jonathan won't be there on the Sunday, he's having a restful day photographing a wedding instead, so it will be just Harry, Jeremy and me. Jonathan will be there on the other days, demonstrating how to photograph softboxes:)

Garry,

You dont have any pics/dimensions of this bag yet do you?

Err...
Big.
Pretty
Armoured
With wheels

Right now it's sitting on my studio floor and it's full of other new products that someone else hopes that I'm going to be able to photograph today before setting off for Focus in the morning...

On top of all my usual work + a hospital appointment...

One of the big Peli cases is ideal for the heads - soft cases are not - they don't give much protection.

That looks good Tom! :)

I'll have to have a measure up and stuff, but they look to be good and a decent size with wheels too! :)

Although, doesnt look like they've been discussed much on here....a search only returned one other thread....

Do you use these sorts of bags? If so, how do you go about protecting flash heads? I'm assuming it doesn't come with any sort of internal dividers....

I have a D-Lite 4 kit so they come in their own bags but I then put these inside my cricket bag with the tripods etc...A one carry all solution

ps I did a search for 'cricket bag' on here and it returned 15 queries

i use a big hard sided suitcase with foam in it cut to shape, i carry 4 dlite 4's, a interfit 150, 5 stands, leads, reflectors and loads of bits and bobs, less than £30 and very strong, i'm too tight to buy a rip off speciality bag so for the sake of looking good it does me fine, plus it has wheels and a pull handle etc
