After spending hours trawling through the interwebs and reading loads of camera bag reviews, I still don't seem to find myself any further forward in my quest for my ideal bag.

It must meet the following conditions;
  • Usage
    • Day hikes, walks round local woodlands/country parks etc
  • Camera kit to carry
    • Nikon D5500
    • Nikon 18-55mm lens
    • Tamron 70-300mm lens (81.5mm x 142.7mm)
    • This may expand to; a prime lens (35mm or 50mm), a tripod and maybe a flash of some description
  • Additional kit to carry
    • Waterproofs, packed lunch, wallet, phone, keys etc
    • Doesn't need to have a seperate compartment for a tablet/laptop
  • Additional requirements
    • Waterproof (or at least have a waterproof cover)
    • Hydration pack compatible
    • Separate compartments for camera and additional kit
    • Camera compartment must be able to hold the D5500 with the Tamron 70-300mm attached
    • Swing round to front for quick and easy access to camera
  • Budget
    • Upto the £100 mark ideally, but willing to stretch to £150 for the perfect bag
About me as a sizing guide; 5'10" tall, average build and I currently use a Osprey Escapist 25 medium/large (480-580mm) for mountain biking and this fits me perfectly and is so comfortable.

So does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations at all please?

I use a Lowepro flipside 400 AW, holds a Nikon body with tamron attached (when I had said lens).
Takes a lighter weight tripod well too.
I have a flipside 500 as well but that's mainly for storage and packing all the gear if on a trip.

I don't have experience of other brands.

I use a think tank sling o matic 20 and it amazes how much it can hold. This might be on the small side of what you are trying to carry but they also do a 30 version which is bigger.
