Recommend me a roller trolley / suitcase for camera stuff

Buy cheap buy twice.

My wheeled kit is a Peli case, bought in the main for moving strobe lighting - but doubles up when I lug a lot of camera gear around. If I was buying again and only for camera kit then I'd be looking firmly at a Think Tank Airport Accelerator 2.0

Would last you for ever.

TBH I would like something that would fit not only camera kit but also a light stand or 2 and a couple of umbrella's... does that exist?
 
I guess it depends on how much camera kit you are going to carry and how big your stands and brollies are. You can get huge peli cases, and a 1620 would certainly take the stands and brollies in the lid recess but then you have 10Kg of case to add to your weight....

Sounds like you need to work out your maximum load, and try some out...

Chances are I'm going to go with this one after a bit more research but waiting for the sale of one of my lenses before making a final decision:

I bought the airport international recently, very similar to yours, just slightly smaller so will fit on more airlines as carry on. Loving it so far, feel much more organised on jobs than I did before (and my back is a lot happier). I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Glad you like yours mate and hopefully that means I will like mine too. I can't wait to turn up at jobs looking more professional than I do at present with several bags and other things hanging off my shoulders and arms! :)
 
If I was after a roller case, I would have a look at some of the toolboxes on rollers from the likes of Stanley. Chuck in some foam inserts and you'll have a fitted case that you can stand/sit on if necessary.
 
Right the roller trolley came yesterday which I thought was a very speedy delivery service... 1st impressions are very good!

I've managed to fit in the main bit:

5D MK III with 24-70mm attached
6D with 70-200mm attached
7D
50mm prime
3 x flash guns
4 x Yongnou YN-622C triggers / receivers
3 x cheap set of Yongnou triggers / recievers (can't remember what model)
E-TTL Cable

In the lid but facing in to the case there's 2 big see through pockets and 2 see through smaller pockets... these hold an assortment of memory cards, batteries and lens cleaning stuff at the moment.

On the outer side of the lid there's another zipped pocket but I haven't put anything in here yet, and then there's a non zipped pocket that fits a couple of umbrella's and also a folded up on camera softbox.

I've managed to fit everything I need in the suitcase apart from my spider pro belt which i've clipped around the handle and that works fine.

All I'm left to carry now are 3 light stands and a tripod.

Overall far better than the camera bag, next shopping bag and a large hold all that I was relying on before!!!

It will get a proper road test at the wedding i'm shooting on Monday so will report back then how it's coped, but overall I'm very happy with the purchase so far :thumbs:

In the picture on the internet it looked like you could fit a tripod in the side pocket but I couldn't even fit one light stand in there... however there were some odd straps included in a seperate bag which may be for this type of thing and I hadn't thought about it until now... will have a look :thumbs:
 
I road tested the case at Monday's wedding and was impressed... in fact i'd say it was a bazillion times better than having my old set up of 3 seperate bags and light stands to carry around.

First things first I worked out how to attached light stands to the side with the additional straps (took a while but got there in the end) and this meant all I had to take in to the venue was the case and nothing else! I had 2 light stands attached to the side which is all I needed for the day, but had another + tripod in the boot of the car in case I needed them... these would have had to be carried as 2 is the max I could fit on the case.

I had to move around the venue a fair bit as it was a large place with different things taking place at different parts, and all I did was wheel the case between them, and carry it up steps with the handle... easy peasy!

Only negative I can see is the handle you pull the wheel it around feels a bit weak and flimsy... certainly more so than my normal luggae suitcase I take on holiday. It has a warning attached saying not to lift the case by it and use the other handle instead and I can really see why as feel it would break quite easily... worked fine for pulling around though and hopefully it's durable long term.

I'm very happy with the purchase and feel it's been money well spent :thumbs:
 
I have the same case you bought and it is great, the pull handle you need to make sure it is fully extended it still doenst feel to strong but it is a lot better definatly not one for picking the case up with by.

I guess you have worked out the tripod/monopod carrier on the side? make sure you use the straps or it all goes a little floppy and hits the floor and wears through pretty quickly I usually put a 3 gelled stool and the monopod it it. but they do get heavy when full.

Haha yeah took me a little while but I figured it out... I have one light stand in the side pocket and held in place with the top strap, and then attached the extra side pocket thing for the other light stand and secured it in place with the bottom strap and top strap. Seemed fairly secure :thumbs:
