Ladies and gents, I'm hoping that you may be able to help...

I'm looking for a cheap smartphone (>£150) that has no writing reverse block. (Reverse block is when the background is brighter than the text, more specifically white writing on black text.)

I'm using a nokia lumia at the moment, and I can have the menu dark writing on alight background, but texts etc, the writing is always white on whatever theme colour. I need black/dark writing.

Does anyone have any suggestions, please?
 
Pretty sure my Blackberry has black on white text. Around the £100 mark 12 months ago IIRC (on PAYG).
 
iphones have black on white (or black on light green in text messages) - you can get an iphone 4 second hand for about £150
 
Any android phone in your budget should be able to show any colour text you like on any background, if not natively then there will be an app that will.
 
I can on mine you change the theme which alters the colour off the text you can also alter the phones brightness and contrast settings it has a few more features on it than what my iPhone has.

Have you tried the nokia forums? It should be brought up as an accessibility issue. The people on there usually know any work arounds that are possible.

I'm sure nokia used to have multiple themes in symbian days so it seems weird that with windows you can't do something as simple as get dark text which I'd imagine the majority would actually want.
 
Whingeing on a forum when something doesn't work how I want is usually my first port of call :)
