I currently use a pc that I upgraded to a good few years ago as my old Toshiba laptop would not handle Adobe Photoshop, I am now looking for a laptop that I can use away from the pc for processing and viewing my pics.

I have a budget of around £1000 and so far I like the look and feel of the Lenovo range.

My old one was 17ins but I think a 15ins would be better.

I do not want it to be touch screen. I do not do gaming, and I am too long in the tooth to change to a Mac.

Any suggestions :)

I'm a PC guy, been working with them since the start, got my first MacBook Pro Ret last year after years of PCs, it integrates with my desktop PCs just fine, I still hate to admit that Apple make fine laptops, I also have a windows partition on it but tbh I never use it. Best laptop I ever had was a toshiba satellite 802, over the last three years I have suffered poor quality laptops hence why somehow I ended up with the Mac. I never thought I would own one.

Key points with the MBPR that make is great, instant startup, fast, quality of build, bat life, screen and touchpad are all GREAT.

Just picked up a Dell Inspirion 7548 - looks suspiciously like a macbook. Found one on the outlet for £660, but even new they're within your budget.
Gorgeous15" 4K screen, 256GB SDD, Dual-core i7 chip (weaker than the macs I think, I haven't run lightroom on this yet).
Battery life pretty good, about 6 hours seems normal, really happy with it for the price.

I currently have a Mac book pro, previously I have had pcs and a mac mini, and personally think that Macs massively overrated. I personally see no benefits over a PC.

Dell Precision M3800. usb3, thunderbolt, solid state, quadro gpu. that carbon fibre chassis too.. :naughty:

much nicer than a macbook too. my only gripe is the glossy display. not overly keen on the 4k display version, makes windows a bit hard to negotiate.

I have a Surface Pro3 plenty quick enough and certainly portable too
Another vote for the surface pro. Yes sure it had touch screen, but you know what. It is great to have that when on the move. Absolutely brilliant, as is the pen.

The other laptops I would consider would be the dell xps 13 and Lenovo yoga 3.

Personally I'd be less concerned about the screen size but more about the resolution. I wouldn't consider anything less than uhd.
