Hey guys, so im going to be trotting around the carribean for 2 year and i leave at the end of march. My laptop is on deaths door so i need a new one. I would love a mac but i cant affor one so........

What would you recommend me i'll get a external HD to store photos but i need something that can handle cs3 and good display to see the pics.

How much are you looking to spend?
What else do you want to do apart from photo editing?
 
Woops thought i had everything in there

Im looking at between 500-600 maybee more if its worth it, and apart from photo editing i go on the internet or write lots. Im not too interested in playing games but if i could find one that could support COD4 im sure i wouldnt complain. Just need it to run for photo editing and general use really.
 
yeah i can get a macbook but not new unfortunatly i would love one but im looking for what will preform best for the money, but if it is a mac then good... anyone else got any recomendations???

I just got my grandparents a Dell Inspiron Core2 Duo with 2GB and 15.4" screen for £369 delivered. Worth a look for the money.
 
can it take anymore RAM?
 
well this is what i mean i dont know enough in terms of spec to choose by myself... I should really ask my mother as shes an IT director but shes on a 3 month assignment in italy for her company and i wont see her or hear from her in a while...
 
you will probably be better off going for a dell, you can build it to whatever spec you want and providing you dont choose every upgrade should still be within your budget.
my sony vaio was only £599 but is nowhere near as well specced a the equivalent priced dell
 
well i just spec an inspiron 1525 with 4gb ram for £506 which i think looks good. Whats better photoshop elements 6 or premiere elements 4?

Photoshop Elements 6 is better at photoediting and Premiere Elements 4 is better at video editing ;)

have just checked Which and they have a Sony vaio vgn-fw11e which gets a best buy at 72 % and is sitting just under £600 quid.

It has pretty decent spec
16.4" LCD, Intel Centrino 2 Core 2 Duo P8400 2.26GHz, 3GB RAM, DDR2 SDRAM, 250GB HDD with Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1- Silver

worth considering the best price they have is at this store here

Yup, I did that a few months back with mine, cost around £70, but tbh if I'd have waited for Lightroom 2.1 I wouldn't have needed to...
