Hi all,

Been getting together some equipment to make a start in the world of photography and wondered if anyone can recommend me a good book that lays out all the basics in an easy to understand format.

I'm also looking around for a course to enroll on but want something to wet my appetite with.

I've got myself a Nikon D80 and want to try a bit of everything with a keen focus (excuse the pun) on macro work.

Any recommendations ?

:agree:

Thats more than enough to get you started :)

I have the Scott Kelby books [it's called 'The Digital Photography book' or similar] and even though it doesn't tell me anything revelatory, it's still a fine, funny, engrossing read. With the exception of my medical texts, it's probably the only book I've read more than a few times.....

Ditto what was said above.

I received my copy of Understanding Exposure this morning so am working through it now!!!

Hi

I started out with a book called "Digital SLR cameras and Photography for dummies". At the time i just had a bit of an eye for photography but didn't really know any of the technicals as just upgraded from a basic point and shoot. The book really does start from the basics and is easy to read not like some.

I have a lot of books on photography and 'Learning to see creativley' by Brian Peterson is my fav and only one that actually helped me
