Right, so its my OH's birthday next weekend, I've already got him something but I want to get him something for his camera as well.

He has: canon 1000d, 18-55 IS, 50mm 1.8, 70-200L, 28-105, jessops 300afdc flash, luma loop strap.
For his birthday he has saved up and got himself the 300mm f/4 IS L.

I was planning on getting him a new good quality lighterweight tripod as he says the other one is too heavy and large for carrying around and I was looking at the manfrotto 190xprob with 804rc2 three way head.
However, when I checked the weight its only 300g lighter than his current tripod and is the same height when folded up.

Jessops own carbon fibre tripod is 1kg lighter, 10cm shorter and looks quite good... has anyone any experience of this?

I have also considered getting him a cpl filter (hoya pro-1/hd or b&w) for the new 300mm, but don't think that would make a particularly good present- or how useful it would be for things like BIF shots.

He has mentioned he'd like a flash bracket, so I may get him one as a little extra.

My budget is £100-£150.

So, what would you recommend? :D

Take my advice and let him choose his own photographic 'gift'.

If he's anything like me whatever you get him will be wrong.
