Yes
I ordered a double Q Strap but wasn't impressed by the quality so it's on its way back.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a double strap that won't break the bank (ie not a black rapid!).

I'd be looking to spend in the region of £40ish.

Ta!

+ 1 for Opetch

Op/Tech all the way for me.

I have wrist straps, normal straps and a harness. I love the modular setup where I can clip/unclip any combination of straps to cameras, lenses, cases, binoculars and even monopods.

I have never used the strap that comes with the camera body as the bloody things always get in the way but sometimes you need a strap for security and peace of mind.

The neck padding and wrist band are slightly elasticated for added comfort.

Op/Tech fills the role for me.

Hope that helps?

I would rather save, and get an good blackrapid one, sometimes they come up 2nd hand on here :)

Get the Black Rapid. The whole point of a sliding sling is the camera hangs upside-down, so you can go straight to the hand-grip, with the straps completely out of the way, and it works just as well with the camera held vertically. The OpTech design isn't as good IMHO, probably because of BR's aggressive stance on patents.

i prefer optech side lug style with short lenses, and tripod hole style with longer lenses, with lens foot too, or using side lugs with battery grip

but theres 3 optech harnesses now, 2 duals and a tripple, id recommend the dual or tripple, and not the sling

Right! Change of plan again. I AM returning the q straps as a quick look on ebay shows EXACTLY the same item (packaging and all) for ALOT less than I paid. Now I appreciate that this is the way with copies etc but there's a big price difference.

So I might take a look the optech offerings after all!

I've been using the Q-straps for weddings 2-3 years now and have no problem with it whatsoever. Can trust it to hold my 5D with 70-200 attached and it's still comfortable after a 12 hour day.

On the other hand, I may be tempted by this as it does look so good :)

So following on from this, I've still not made up my mind, but I need to do so pretty soon as I've got a wedding to shoot on Saturday.

I'm still probably leaning towards the Optech Double Sling, but I'm wondering if it's possible to use it with Blackrapid (or similar) connectors as I don't like the way the cameras would be swinging around if they're connected by a single strap connector as it shows on their site. Has anyone tried this?

Doing it this way would still be cheaper than the Blackrapid, and as much as I'd love a proper Blackrapid, they're somewhat out of my price range.

My other option is to get one single Blackrapid and use it along with the second camera on the standard Nikon strap, but I'm not sure how practical that would be.

I've tried using a single blackrapid along with a normal strap, as well as two single blackrapids - neither is as good or comfortable as a double strap which is made for the job

you can get em from Ebay for a tenner Greg, Q, Strap, K Strap, R Strap, all the exact same chinese made stuff

Yeah that's why I'm returning the Q Strap. I'm not paying £35 odd quid for an eBay job!

I think I'm going to get an Optech sling and a couple of BR fasteners, see how that pans out.
The Q Strap quick fasteners are made from a cheap soft alloy and painted to look like the black rapid d fastners

Yeah the whole Q Strap thing just felt too cheap. I know plenty of people on here use them but id rather spend a bit more and get something decent.

The Optech double sling and a couple of genuine BR fasteners will be about £45 so not as cheap but still not near BR dual strap territory!

Where are you in the world?

I like the Sunbounce Snipers and I use a double Sunbounce strap for weddings.

Ah ok! I was gonna lend you mine to try if you were local! To southern England !! Sorry

i think the optech dual harness is better, but in terms of setup options, a extra set or two of the 3/8ths style connectors will expand your options of mounting whatever you get, and if you use tripods/monopods there are arca swiss plates with strap mounting options, which will be similer in effect to BR style but with seemless mountability

Can't believe that price is a consideration in buying something that is going to hold thousands of pounds worth of gear.
I was advise to buy a cheapo one and a few minutes later watched an expensive camera hit the floor from it, needless to say I didn't
take the advice.

Well price is always a consideration when purchasing something, and as much as I'd love to drop £100 on a Black Rapid I can't justify that amount for something that will get a small amount of use.

But you're totally right about being too cheap and this is exactly why I've returned the Q Strap, because after thinking about it I simply wouldn't have been comfortable hanging expensive kit from it.

However I've used optech straps before so I know their quality is decent.

Well as an update to my saga, I ended up ordering an Optech double harness instead of the sling by mistake ( i blame Amazon for putting the word sling in the title for the dual harness!). I tried it but really didn't like it so I'm returning it, which left me the unenviable task of finding a double strap by Saturday.

I had a look about for the Optech sling that Id originally wanted but Amazon couldn't deliver it in time and to get it anywhere else by Saturday would have been over £40. Combine that price with the price I'd already paid for the BR fasteners and you're talking about £65. Which (according to my logical thinking) is only £35 less than a Black Rapid which Amazon could deliver by Saturday.....

So yeah I just thought what the hell and ended up buying the Black Rapid. It's a lot of money for a strap so I hope its worth it!

why didnt you like the harness one?

I wanted the cameras mounted upside down which is why I wanted the sling one. I tried attaching the BR fasteners to the hsrness but it didn't feel right.

When the cameras were attached normally I found that as I brought them up a bit of the strap fell right across the viewfinder. I'm sure I would have gotten used to it after a while but as I said it was the sling style strap I was after in the first place.

Build etc from the Optech was great but just not what I was after.
