Recommend me a cheap background stand

For lastolite collapsible backgrounds

Most of the time I just prop them against a wall, but that's not always possible

I wondered if the cheap (£20/£30) ones on ebay were any good ? They're marketed as "heavy duty" (yeah right!) but ladtolite collapsible a aren't exactly heavy so thought I might get away with it

I have the large lastolite in mocha with a train

Just bought one of the £30 jobbies off ebay (the one with 2 telescopic bars for the middle), it manages to hold a 2m x 4m roll of heavy vinyl so your background is unlikely to pose a challenge.

It does feel like a cheap piece of rubbish though and I suspect will need to be replaced within a year or two (but I needed some spare stands anyway).

Can you send me a link please mate ?

Not sure how tall my lastolite is 7ft maybe ? Will it be talk enough ?

This is what I bought http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230805041399 which is slightly different to your needs but the Chinese sellers are often just selling the same 2-3 items so you'll end up with the same or similar stand (similar in quality to the older bog standard Interfit kit).

Height isn't an issue although I wouldn't trust it at its maximum (3m) and like I said I doubt they're robust or sturdy enough to survive more than a couple of years outside of light studio work. The only concern I'd have would be balance, while the stand will support the background they're made cheaply so the feet are quite short and they're light so easily tipped.

Taking that into consideration for balance if the background is relatively light you can get a stand with boom arm or you could use the above support system with some clamps if you're going to use something heavier.

The Lencarta 2.5m air damped stands won't exactly break the bank and are more than capable. Here they are

Why do you need anything?

I have never used anything to prop mine up and had kids messing about near it and all sorts like.

Last use was about 30cm away from any flat surface and stayed there for 4 hours being used with no problems, is the big 7 foot one also like

Do you mean a hilite background as I understand that these are self supporting. I think that the OP was referring to a simple pop up background.
