Hi all,

The time has come for me to restock my film supply!

I was using acros 100 but that's a bit slow for me as a general purpose film.
It's nice - but slow (like me :bonk: )

I'm thinking I should get a few rolls of Ilford Delta 400, anyone know any other good ones to consider? :)

120 format by the way

There are many, many different types of film. It'd be more useful for you to go to Silverprint (or wherever you get your film from), see what they have & search for in in Flickr. People shouting film names over the interweb probably won't be of much help to you.

If you really want to know though, I use (almost exclusively) HP5 because it can handle being pulled to 200 & pushed to 1600 fairly well.

If you insist on a 400 speed film, how about Tri-X? Nearly everyone who has shot it has liked it, I have a couple of rolls of 120 I'm looking to try out when my current film is finished :)
 
Tri-x, if you haven't tried it you definitely should at some stage :) love the stuff
 
If 100 ISO is a little slow for you, then you could go for either Ilford HP5 or Delta 400. Both films are excellent. The Delta has finer grain than HP5, but it does require a little more care with exposure and development if you want the best out of it. HP5 is a better general purpose fast film and can be shot at various ISO settings with the appropriate development.

I don't use Kodak very often and they are very highly regarded, but I'll leave that for others with more experience than me.
 
What do you want it to look like? For quite simply the bst tonality and amazing dynamic range look no further than XP2.

Agfa APX 100 pushes well to 400 without too much grain increase, very very contrasty film mind, doesn't tolerate slack exosure too well.

Always flying the flag for T-Max 400. Tri-X is a good performing emulsion though. Surprised Neopan 400 hasn't been mentioned, people tend to adore Neopan.
