Since having to reinstall on my Mac my old black and white business printer no longer works and has no driver support for Big Sur.

My last printer is a small Samsung ML-1865 which has been a workhorse.

Anyone have recommendations for a cheap black and white printer that runs on Big Sur.

Well, I have had my HP laser jet p1102w for something over 6..... possibly 8 years. It has printed in excess of 46,000 pages and is now showing some signs of wear but still going well.

According to this page they do list Mac OS 11 which I think is Big Sur?

Oh, back then I paid about £90 but a search shows some big variance in its current price  :$:police:

HTH :)

Edit oooops! The linked page

I have the previous version to this printer. I had the previous to that for 6 years until it was destroyed in a fire in 2019. Fantastic printer and £40 fro a set of cheap cartridges off Amazon.

I bought a canon eco tank printer (G5050 I think) at the start of lockdown because I was working from home for the foreseeable (still using home as the office). I needed to print project folders out for work and getting permits to print them off in the office was far too much hassle and not worth driving to the office to do.

Nearly 1.5 years later it’s been fantastic. I’ve printed thousands of pages in black and white and in colour and I’ve only just got to 50% on all of the ink wells! The refills aren’t too expensive (seem to think I bought a set of colour replacements for about £30 for the 3. Black ink is another £10). It came with 2 bottles of black ink and a full set of colour bottles unlike some printers that only come with partially filled cartridges. My model also prints via WiFi and air prints off my iphone and iPad.

It’s exactly what I was looking for - a really cheap to run printer that gave ok prints. Only downside is that it’s an inkjet.

One thing I noticed with printers is you can get them cheap and then pay much more in ink to run them or spend a bit more upfront for a cheaper to run in the long term. All depends on your use.

I think I paid about £300 so this is a great price at argos:
