I'm about to collect my new PC & I understand there's no Outlook Express bundled with it. Recommendations appreciated for a simple software that functions just like OE & is easy to transfer the backed up mail from my old system

OK - I'm confused now I've got the programme and it defaults to my hotmail address so far so good but how do I view my bt mail address and import my old emails. Basically I used hotmail on my old XP machine and higher management used OE. Can I set up something similar or am I missing something really obvious ??

I don't use Live Mail but you are supposed to be able to set up your BT email like this:

Importing old emails:

Windows Live Mail is what you're after.

Official Microsoft download site
I use that with W7 and it is good. Unless Microsoft have fixed this PITA problem with W8 be careful not to click on Work Offline (it is right next to Send/Receive so is easily clicked by accident). Getting the program back online is not a matter of clicking the button again, but has to be done by delving into IE.

Thunderbird would is my non-business email client of choice. Full Outlook for business because of contact management and integration with Office suite.
