Around £50 as i have a Sony dslr anyway.
Been offered this for the £50

4 year old but mint. I would be replacing the battery for it anyway.
Is there anything brand new and better whether just a compact for between £50-£100 that also does video.
mainly for chucking in a bag for the beach etc

How does it compare with ebay prices? No idea myself about video cameras so cant help on the model you link to..

I bought my mother a similar samsung model and the video on it (non HD on hers) was stunning for what was a £50 camera...the pics where pretty good as well.
Until she fell in the sea with it in her pocket lol.

You cant really go wrong at that price for a new camera with full warranty.
 
I wouldn't get that JVC, my Mother got one and though it was OK for video, the stills were dreadful. Also you are almost forced to buy their outrageously expensive battery as alternatives don't communicate with it properly.
 
Looks fine to me... just missing the HD video in the one I linked but has a better ISO range and a larger optical zoom
