I have been shooting photographs at rehearsal's for inclusion to DVD in an end product, But since the beginning of the year we have been saying the shots were not for sale or distribution outside the DVD. We have decided to look for a way of allowing people to see the shots and buy individual prints.

Using a proof book is not working so I am looking for an online gallery people can review what is there and buy prints. OR just view what is there and fill out an order form - and I will fulfil
the prints in a sort of order process using an order form maybe - bit of a hybrid - semi manual way of doing things....Point is I am not sure.

I need a way of showing the images

The gallery must be password protected

I could have 10 or more albums with about 300 - 400 shots in each at any one time and would want to leave them available for the late purchasers

Anyone use Photo box for this? - I have read some poor reviews but most of them are from a year or two ago...

Any other providers you use or can recommend would be great.......Thanks.

I have just found this too http://www.layerspace.com/photographers-websites/

Comes at a price though....

I'm currently using Shoot Proof mainly because I can link them up with Loxley to sort out the fulfilment side of things. The client gallery views are quite nice too.

You can sign up for free and get to try the service out with 100 photos for free. You only start paying once you want to store more photos on their system.

Will can I ask a quick Q about Shootproof? (we're currently looking at using them but waiting to see if there is a black friday signup sale)

Does it allow you to create a slideshow of specific images rather than all that are in the gallery? For example we'd like to create an online gallery of all the images inc guest candids etc, but also have an online slideshow with a more streamlined set of images approx 100-200.

Yes, you create an 'event' and within each event you can create 'albums'. When a user accesses an event they can view all photos or a specific album and one of the views is a slideshow view. Events can be password protected as can individual albums within an event. Any albums within an event that aren't password protected will be accessible by anybody with access to the event.

If you have your own web space then Photocart. Initial cost my be a little expensive for some but no ongoing costs (excluding transaction fees from your chosen payment gateway). Tonnes of options, customisable and support is great.

I'm a photo cart user and very happy with the product, although development of the product has stagnated somewhat with the development of "Sytist" by the same author.

If this is a one-off then you might be better on a pay-per-album hosted solution than buying the software for your own site.

I seem to remembered they said new features wouldn't be developed but security/bug fixes would still take a high priority.

Has the new package come out now? I've not read anything on it recently.

Neil, I don't know. My photo cart hums along earning me money, and I had no interest in going to a new hosted combo website/gallery system.

I'm sure there will be fixes for bugs and patches for security - and I'm OK with that, what you won't get is re-design to compete with newer cart designs, techniques and competitors.

Brilliant. Sounds ideal. It doesn't look as stylish as pixieset from a design point of view, but the link with Loxley is vital to us.
