Recommend an Acoustic Guitar

If you're on a tight budget, Crafter are great. I know a couple of people who regularly gig with them.

My budget is around 500 and I'll be buying used unless something unusual happens.

I'll try some cedar tops too, thanks.
 
The strings are new, which is one reason I'm not giving up on it yet. The seller put new Martin Clapton's on it - not a string I'd choose. I've been playing it a lot to see how it settles and it's getting better, but still not the tone I wanted. It might be hard to part with it though...
 
For anyone who still cares I just bought one of these after playing it in a local shop. Lush.
 
That looks stunning! I really like the shape of that cut-away too.
Same choice of materials as my Simon&Patrick too.

Has it got any fret markers on the edge of the fretboard? It doesn't look like it does in the photo.
 
Yes fret markers down the side. Needs a setup but its so warm and rich already. Once it forgets it was a tree it'll be yummy.

Good choice. I have quite a few Acoustics and we have three Faith Guitars. Two are the Faith Limited Edition Signature Models which are beautiful and were made in the Furch workshop in the Czeck Republic. I have Gibson's and have had two Lowdens and these two are up there with the Lowdens.

I also have the model that you have just bought and that is fantastic too.

Thanks Chris. I bought it (barely) used for a song, but it needs a setup and some strings before I can truly fall in love with it.

I doubt I'd have much trouble falling in love with those Lowdens though. :)

Never base your assessment of tone on the sound you hear as most guitars sound very different from the audiences perspective.. try getting a mate to play it for you while you sit in front and listen.

That Norman looks like a real craftsman's geetar but the cutaway one is right up my street. Is it electro?

I'm really trying hard to justify keeping them both, Pat. The Norman is currently in the local guitar shop window on commission - unless the owner buys it himself. He wouldn't stop playing it which made me realise it's a bit special.

The Faith is an electro-acoustic, yes. It's being setup atm.
