Depending on the model that might be quite valuable. If a after a quick check it turns out to be I'd get it fixed professionally rather than risk a good camera with some sentimental value.

as for the model its a 532/16.
no idea if that makes it a rare one or not but i know it was one of his most prized posessions
repair timeframe isn't too important but its something i'd definitely look at doing.
is film still available for these things?
i also recently discovered some of his old slides & his noris projector in a cupboard but have yet to test its operation..

With regard to film and these cameras you would be advised to read this article on frame spacing problems
I can not find the link at the moment but someone suggest just taping say two inches of gafer / duct tape onto the leader I find that that sort of mostly works with my Super Ikonta IV 534/16.
