Yes
as above

my present liquid leaves an oil-like film over the filter glass surfaces

prob cos it's very old...:(

You don't need one unless you get your lenses very, very dirty. Breathing on the glass and polishing with a clean tissue or cloth will get it clean 99% of the time. Generic isopropyl alcohol for the rest.

^^
:plus1:

If you want to spend though, get some of those `wipes` sold for specs.

i 'need' to get the oil film off first....:(........i'll try isopropyl - thanks

i sacrificed an old UV filter
use my old fluid - yep = oily residue
washed under hot tap with anti-bact handwash = clear as a clear thing = :)

Another vote for Zeiss wipes, pretty cheap on eBay and individually wrapped. Use them for my glasses too :)

And if you dont want to pay Zeiss prices, the Aldi and Poundland ones are pretty much the same and work just as well ;)

I buy boxes of 100 individually sealed wipes form Asda for £1 and have used them on everything. I wouldn't pay more to have Zeiss printed on the box.

Doesn't breathing on the lens risk introducing moisture, which in turn will cause rust, mould and the end of civilisation as we know it...
