Has anyone got any recommendations for a decent cordless mouse at a reasonable price please? I know I could read the reviews, but my current one - a Logitech MX Performance Darkfield - gets some really good reviews and that hasn't stopped it developing a problem which I've found out from searching user forums seems to be very common. That is, if you make more than light to moderate use of the left button it stops working properly, meaning that you can't hold it down for selecting, dragging, cropping, using sliding scales, etc, etc, etc. In other words, it's pretty useless for photo editing! So if anybody has a mouse that they've been using without problems for some time, I'd be glad of any recommendations to prevent me chucking another 50 quid down the drain. Thanks!

I had the same issue with my 2 year old Logitech MX Performance Darkfield mouse.
I contacted Logitech UK support (0203 024 8159) and they arranged a replacement which I received in approx. 10 days.
Have your part No & Serial numbers ready (under the battery cover)

Just bought a Microsoft mouse and keyboard. Keyboard is excellent, but the mouse is temperamental. Needs a clear line of sight to the little bit plugged into the PC and doesn't like to work if the PC is "thinking". Kept the keybaord and ditched the mouse in favour of my old Logitech.

That's not right. Which one do you have? Dongle or Bluetooth? If the latter, are you also using a USB 3.0 dock? They can interfere

Thanks for all the suggestions. Should have said that I use a PC, so I'm afraid the Apple Magic Mouse recommended by Alan won't be an option, but I'll have a look at the others. At the moment I've partially solved the problem by swapping the left and right button functions, but a) it's hard to remember to use the "wrong" button and b) I've no doubt that the righthand button will eventually develop the same problem in time.

Thanks to Redsnappa for the info about getting a replacement. Most of the complaints I've read have come from users in the US, where the Logitech support people seem to insist on having the faulty mouse sent back to them before they will replace it - meaning that you are left mouseless in the meantime. If I can get them to send me one just by giving them the serial numbers that will be great, although I fear from reading how many people have had multiple replacements fail on them that it will only be a temporary solution - sorry to be the bearer of bad news Redsnappa!

Thanks for the suggestion landwomble, but judging by the number of complaints I've read and the fact that it's just the left button - ie the one most used - that's failing, it appears that the problem is with the quality of the mouse itself. Complaints I've read go back to 2011, so it's something that Logitech have been aware of for some years, but apparently have done nothing to rectify.

Edit to add: Aaah, just realised that your reply was aimed at Mickledore's problem not mine!

With mine Logitech confirmed that it was a faulty micro switch on the left button that was the problem, nothing to do with dongles or interference.
Unfortunately I had to return my mouse to Logitech before they sent a replacement mouse out to me.

Oh poo :(

Sorry, I was referring to the guy with the Microsoft mouse a few posts above

The best mouse is a Wacom tablet and pen. For everything.

I have an Intuos 3 sat on the windowsill that begs to differ ;)

Yup, I haven't use a mouse at home for a while now.
No idea why you quoted me - I haven't used the tablet for ages. Just too fiddly.... ;) I use a Microsoft Intellimouse. Can't get them any more. Which is unfortunate as their replacement is pants to say the least!

OP: I have a Razer Deathadder, and it's easily the best mouse I've ever had. It's a proper left-handed ergonomic mouse (there is a right-handed version, too), it's incredibly accurate, it's very comfortable, the buttons and wheel are quality switchgear, and it's very well put together.

However, it's corded. Dealbreaker?

Logitech MX Performance Darkfield .... the left button stops working properly

You might be able to fix the micro switch for the left button. Here's a 'how to' video - it shows a Logitech MX Revolution but I suspect the switches are the same as the MX Performance Darkfield. Go to 8m 50s to see the switches.

(NB. The screws to take these mice apart are under the silicone feet. Replacement feet are available if you damage them getting at the screws).

I've got the MX Revolution and it's the best mouse I ever used - why they stopped making it is beyond me. It's even better when used with this.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm still using the buttons switched around and have got used to using it the wrong way now, so I'll probably wait until I start having problems with the right hand button, but I'll certainly have a look at razers after all your recommendations!

Same here, and agree about the replacement.

I've had issues with various Wireless mice over the years that in the end I went back to wired and haven't had an issue since. Saying that I do use a different mouse for gaming compared to everyday use.
