Recommend a monitor for Mac mini

as the title goes really, I'm soon to get a Mac mini and need a screen to match. Others have recommended the dell 2515h, I don't want to go above the price of that. I'm not brand specific here either. What's the opinion on gloss vs matte? Also what happens if you connect a screen with a resolution higher than the output of the computer? Does clarity suffer in some way?

As above its a great monitor and one I chose after a lot of research. Check the review on TFT Central.
Gloss v matte, depends a bit on your location but gloss is a no for me, too distracting. Matte finishes can vary from OTT varients making the screen look a bit grainy to well balanced finishes which do just enough like on the Dell.
I'm very new to Macs so can't answer that part of your query.
 
AFAIK LCD screens should be run at native resolution. If your mini can't support the native resolution of the screen then I'd suggest finding a screen it will match.
 
I probably will go with the 2515 but I wanted to know if I wasn't missing out on something close to the spec for less. Any one use a 2560x1200 res?
