No
I've tried a bit of macro stuff recently and feel that a macro flash kit would help.

I'll be using it with a D810 (soon to be a D850) and probably the Nikon Marco lens.

My first thought was to get the Nikon R1C1 Close-Up Commander kit at £599

However today I've seen the Nissin MF18 and the Sigma EM-140 Macro Flash both of which looked good and much cheaper but I was unable to try any.

Price not being a factor which is the best one?

Ohhh and also looking for a recommendation for extension tubes?

Thanks

The tube choice is easy - Kenko.

Choice of flash really depends on your subject. It's probably worth looking in the Macro/Close-up section here to see what diy solutions people use but I think you'll find very few use ring-lights.

Oh, and it's worth considering the Sigma 105mm Macro as an alternative to the Nikkor.

Thanks I have looked there and yeah not many use ring-lights as such, still tempted by the Nikon though..

As for lens, I already own the Nikkor so wouldn't change to the Sigma unless there was a very good reason to do so.

Out of curiosity, why don't many people use a ring flash ?
I know nothing about macro, but from what I have seen it seems that an even light is often used, which would point towards a ring flash, or am I totally wrong as usual ?
