hi all i want to venture into taking portraits of my kids can anyone recomend an affordable kit i could use to get some half decent shots of them thanks

You mean with a studio light kit, or with hot-shoe guns? Fully manual or auto-TTL? You need at least £200, preferably £400-500, plus a flash meter.

Lots of choice. Give us a clue about how you are thinking of working, what lighting kit you currently have (if any) and budget.
