Hello all.

Looking for advise on lighting and equipment. Other half has sanctioned a studio room. Will be used for portraits and small groups. Budget around 400.

For that kind of budget, look at Lencarta Smartflash. Give their Garry Edwards a call (regular poster on here) and he'll talk you through a few options.

I wouldn't. You get a lot for your money with those kits, but it's all low grade stuff and you really have no idea what the flash heads are actually like. Some are rubbish. Lots of threads on these things if you search, but on your head be it.

The cheapest studio head worth buying that I'm aware of is the Lencarta Smartflash. There may be others and though I've tested a lot of alternatives, not all.

I have no connection with Lencarta BTW.
