I Like to shoot a lot in low light and I'm after a better tripod. One that will hold my 550D with battery grip. As I've used my tripod I have without it but with the battery grip it's not as steady. I want one with a ball head if anyone recommend me a decent one without the huge price tag. Thanks DAVE

Have a look at the red snapper ones. Very good tripod at good prices.

I don't think you will improve the stability by changing your tripod - unless you use a semi pro mag alloy bodied camera & OEM mag alloy bodied battery grip, the joint between the camera and battery grip will introduce movement by flexing. For added stability just take the battery grip off and mount the camera directly to the tripod.

I think Paul (Dogfish magnet) is probably right. I have a D300 with a grip and even though the camera chassis is mag-alloy there is flexing between it and the grip (which is just plastic).

On the tripod subject though I'm happy to recommend the Benro Travel Angel 2 which comes complete with a ball head. I recently purchased one with the B1 head (most are sold with the B0 which has less load capacity) for about £130 and think it's great. Took it to the top of Snowdon on a pretty breezy day and it handled the wind, etc., admirably. It folds up into a very compact size due to its reversable legs - one of which can be detached and combined with the head to form a very versatile monopod.

I got a used Manfrotto 190 classic with a 488rc2 ball head used, off ebay for £65, it is very steardy but not lightweight.
