After my recent laptop upgrade I'm looking to replace my offsite backup drive caddy to take advantage of USB3.

I currently have some of those £5 from china jobs, and while I have never had an issue with these (now up to 3 of them covering IDE and SATA) but they are all USB2.

I am considering spending a bit more on a "better" one. At the same time if it's too much I'll just fall back to one of these cheap caddies, as while not the most robust, they work and are cheap. What too much is I haven't decided yet.

The drive is a 2.5" 500GB 7200rpm Seagate Barracuda.

Got two of the 5 quid Novatech ones, work fine and good speeds.

Those Icy Box ones look like a reasonably well built item. Will see if I can find them for less than £20 however.

In an annoying turn of event's though it seems the hard disk I was going to use from my macbook seems to have failed, which would be why the macbook failed to boot then. More annoying as it was only bought in June.
