HI folks, ever since I have been using the above 2 programs over the past 6-8months I have been finding my workflow getting much more important and easier to get through but now at quite a critical time I'm having problems and hope some of the knowledgeable folks on here can help me out.

Both programs are now running extremely slowly (nothing else running in background, have checked and double checked for viruses and spyware with AVG and AdAware)

I'm now at the stage where when I load an item it will take around 15secs to load up. I may be able to do a few adjustments on it before it hangs and I get the Non-responding message about the program when I try to close it. If I leave it for a 30secs- 1minute then I can make a few more clicks before the same thing happens again. Very similar story with CS4 also.

I"m at a total loss as I haven't messed with any hardware and it all seems fully functional, there are ared 90 gigs of space on both my drives. I'm at my wits end and if you have any ideas at all that can be help me out please, please chuck them up here.

Tommy - not a happy wee bunny atm :(

Its the main reason for me coming away from Photoshop, I ditched LR sometime ago over performance issues. Sounds like your hard drive might need a spring clean, a defrag, and is it getting full? The single most effective thing I recently did was to reduce the amount of stuff on my HD so that it was no more than 60% full. You could have a look and see if there are any other unnecessary programs running in the background, check for virus and spyware.

Cheers for the replies guys, I've tried pretty much everything except defragging the HDD and optimising the catalogue so will give that a go tonight.

I'm running 2Gig of ram Tomas, I know it's not a lot by todays standards but it's always ran LR smoothly until recently.

Check your not running out of disk space - Adobe leaves loads of temp files on the disk that should be deleted when the program exits normally. Also have a look at this linky for Adobe optimization.

I get the same after I have been using them for a while - can generally grade about 150 images in LR before it decides on a go slow (and if I do persist it does not "remember" anything I do after the go slow starts). I just close and reopen the programmes which seems to help, as does not having the hard drive too full

Get ccleaner and run a disk clean and the Reg clean you find lots of stuff you got you dont need also as said a Defrag

:plusone: i agree, because mainly its due to the temp files getting clog up causing everything to slow right up!(something to do with memory i think)

good luck in solving your probs mate

Just a wee update on this. Turned out one of my sticks of RAM had died on me and I was unknowingly running with only 1 Gig memory. One of me mates bunged me another 1Gig and all is fine and dandy again. Cheers all for the advice and help chaps.
