Yes
Hi, please excuse a rather dull question but I am currently sat here hands covered in ink and getting desperate.

I currently use an Epson 1400 with a Permajet CIS attatched. Not sure what has happened but I am getting VERY patchy images which do not look like the usual blocked nozzles (but may be is ?).

I have reinstalled trhe divers but to no avail.

I am being nagged to do some printing for my daughter for her A-level final piece. So, I am probably resigned to putting the Epson in the skip, I am THAT hacked off.

Question is could anyone recommend a printer which will print photos to the quality of the Epson 1400 but which will also do reports/artwork as well for me and the daughter but which will not cost the earth to buy or run ?

I do not want another CIS-based printer so something with reasonably-priced refills would be good.

Any ideas ?

Would love to hear from the experts on this.

Edit: Have just seen from a post below lots of love for the Canon pro 100. Is the any good for non-photo printing ?

Regards

Gary

Personally, I use my A3+ printer purely for colour prints, mainly photos but also a few posters for my wife's business and use a laser mono printer for B&W text. My big printer can do any size prints (as can all A3 ones I think?) and is a Canon. Tempted to upgrade it to a pro 10 or 100 since my old iX4000 isn't that good for B&W photos. I know my wife's current A4 printer (another Canon, MG4100 series all-in-one) is cheaper to run than her old Epson 220.

There's nowt wrong with the big printer as far as text printing goes, it's just that the laser's so much cheaper per print!

I have used a Pro-100 for a several months now and I am very happy with it. Apart from a glitch setting up the wireless side of things, it has been very reliable, and the standard of prints, both poly and monochrome are superb. (One exhibition organiser actually asked me what printer I used as he was so taken by the quality!)

Ink usage is reasonable considering the vast majority of my prints are A3. and i can get a full set from 7 Day Shop for around £72.

Thanks to both for the advice above. The Canon pro 100 looks like a candidate. I do like 7dayshop ! What would be the next cheapest option in case I cannot get the spend authorised for this printer ?

Cheers Bob, looks like I'll be paying my friendly local shop a visit (with a copy of Park's special offer in my pocket!)

Gary, I would suggest saving for a little longer! Maybe, if you have any little expenses, you could cut them down and save the cash saved? (A couple of pints in the evening will be close to £7, so having just one would mean £3.50 in the printer jar!) Or use my tactic; keep going on about the benefits of the printer until the spending monitor snaps and says "If you buy the ****ing thing, will you STF up about it?"...

Hi Nod, I think I will give the Canon 100 pro a go. The offer from Park looks too good to refuse. Will raise the matter tonight and see what SWMBO has to say about it !

About time I sold some TCs anyway so this will raise the cash.

Thanks for the advice.
