Reccomend me a pair of binoculars

I am thinking of getting some for my dad for christmas as he has filled the back garden with bird feeders and likes to just sit out in the conservatory.

But, i have no idea wht i am looking at so any advice would be appreciated.

They will mainly be used for in the garden, something compact would be nice and he wears glasses, though i don't think that should make much difference.
Budget is something in the region of £30-40.

Loads here in your price range. For bird watching you don't want to be going more then 8X or 10X magnification. More powerful might seem an attractive idea, but you'd never hold them still.

Yes,thanks also from me Cedric, saw some 8x42 at leighton moss the other day and when I looked at the price fainted, £482.....now I could get a nice lens for that, so got a pair from you're link for £89........

Has anyone actually used this website before?

I have placed an order 5 days ago and had no confirmation of delivery or anything?
I just want to check it will be delivered in time for christmas but i have had no reply to my email i sent and their phone line has been permanantly engaged for three days. :shrug:

Have a word with Kerso here on the forum, the olympus ones he sells are, I have just discovered, perfect for that exact job. Nice and compact, easy to hold and work brilliantly at garden distances. I doubt they are optically the best, but certainly good enough for that kind of thing and its exactly what I have been doing with mine the last few days.
