Hey folks,
I have done a rebrand (Krysalis Photography, is no more), this something I have battled with for the past 2 years. However, my service provider was being rubbish so gave me the push I needed, so a blessing I guess. Anyhoo, It would be great if you could drop by and give me your feedback and check its all working correctly. Im off to a great start with Zack Arias just commenting on my images as "compelling" - talk about making me feel amazing in one word!
PLEASE, dont bring me back down to earth with a bump ;)

Like me on Twitter and ill happily do the same for you

The link is www.dadefreeman.com

thanks in advance :)

Beautiful site. Really crisp and clean. I wasn't too keen on the first image though, I thought some of the others are much much stronger and would give much more of an immediate wow factor when the site first loads. Entirely subjective though - probably just me.

Nice work Dade :) You have a clear style and obviously know about light/studio. That's a good test of a proper photographer

Comments: from a commercial perspective, you need some more work in there, less repetition between the galleries, and a bit more variety. Nice clean site though - just need to market it, get potential clients to take a look.

Clean site and gorgeous work.

Only looking on the iPad but it seems you could put some more effort into the SEO. Pagetitles are currently set to 'don't care about rankings'.

Hoppy, I am working on getting more variety into the pages, as you rightly say less dupes in the galleries. I have work, but not enough at the calibre I want to advertise ;)

Rich, fair point, the original 'power' image has been taken off for now as publishers wont release the image, pity as its damn good. Once they have used it I can pop it back on :)

commercial - dade freeman

Commercial what? Give google a hint

"commercial photography in XYZ" would be better.

Think of what a potential client would be searching for, what search terms would they use

creative - Dade Freeman

Creative writing?
Creative design?
creative ?????

It's a really common mistake to allow default page titles, when you set your site up and called it Dade Freeman. Those page titles only mean anything to you. People will be looking for commercial photographer in xxx.
Depending on the template you might be able to do global changes, but if not, it's worth doing it all manually anyway.

It is Squarespace, they have about 12 templates that you can 'tweak'

Jonooooo125 - perhaps, I havent seen his? I do hope the images are different though :P

ahh yeah, same template! (WELLS) it is a nice clean design, so I imagine popular, but it works for :)
I did try some of the fullscreen options, but they crop your images when used, which I didnt like.

There is HTML custom options if you know what you are doing, but otherwise it is simply drop things in place, tweak a little and go. That works for me, as I was spending too much time thinking and create a Wordpress site and less time actually working.

Looks lovely that. I arrived hare as I searched for 'squarespace' to see if anyone else used it!

I really like your site and your work is excellent. It kicks my photos ass!

I tried the Wells template but am currently looking at a few others.

Hi Dade,
Being in the process myself of migrating to Smugmug from the somewhat dire PhotoBox, massive continuous, overnight and all weekend photo upload chugging away now, oh for decent upload speeds, 4000 photos mind, you might want to get into the pricing options in Smugmug for your print sales. You are selling at essentially the base price, trade if you like; in other words 13p for a 6x4. Can't believe you really want to sell you work as prints at these prices. If you havn't the time at the moment to sort the price lists I would have thought better to run them off! Unless....please don't tell me you are selling at those prices?

Slightly more worrying is that you can do a "save page as" and get all the source & images (at the displayed resolution) in one go.
But then I guess you could point wget at it and grab the whole lot... Hmm, I wonder how sites prevent that.

Hey LC2 - You can use right click protects but I have proven nothing is safe once it is on the web, so saves and grabs arent a massive concern any longer. If I find my images being used I simply invoice accordingly.

I am not selling my work via Smugmug, it is simply a port for clients to access their images. Typically I am paid upfront, I dont tend to do aftersales. Again as for watermark its a choice I have made. I am not bothering, embedded watermark is enough ;)

OK, but a number of the galleries are open for all to buy from a wide choice of product, not just your clients. Anyone can choose product at base prices.

Personally I'd removed the nude you have right in the middle of the commercial work as I think it would put your clients off, especially when viewing in an office environment.

Additional kudos for re-branding without using the word 'photography'- hell I can see that they're photos! As a non pro I like the lay out- clean with minimal distractions. I agree with James- even after reading his comment I was still slightly surprised when the nude er 'popped up'.
